ABA is used to treat a wide array of diagnoses, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, communication disorders, motor disorders, genetic disorders, and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
ABA is based on the science of learning and behavior. It is an evidence-based practice, which means it has passed scientific tests of its usefulness, quality, and effectiveness. ABA has been used to treat individuals with autism since the 1960s, and its methods have been researched for decades.
ABA treatment is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Treatment is uniquely tailored to each individual, dependent upon their skill deficits and behavioral excesses. There are a multitude of techniques to understand and change behavior, all of which will be determined and monitored by a Clinical Supervisor, who is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. The Clinical Supervisor trains the Behavior Technician, who will directly implement the treatment, and monitors progress to make data-based treatment decisions.
