ASSESSMENT
Clinical Supervisors, who are Board Certified Behavior Analysts, conduct functional behavior assessments, which includes indirect and direct assessments, to obtain valuable information about an individual's behaviors. The indirect assessment involves questionnaires with caregiver(s), while the direct assessment involves directly testing skills and behaviors. The functional behavior assessment is a comprehensive and an individualized approach that will determine the course of treatment.
ABA SERVICES
APBH provides applied behavior analysis, or ABA, services to individuals ages 0 to 21 years old in the home, school, and community. ABA services are used to treat a wide array of diagnoses, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, communication disorders, motor disorders, genetic disorders, and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
Based on the functional behavior assessment, ABA services are comprehensive and individualized to increase appropriate behaviors and decrease inappropriate behaviors. ABA is a function-based and evidence-based treatment approach.
Treatment may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Expressive communication (e.g., sounds, requests, labeling, etc.)
- Receptive communication (e.g., responding to name, following instructions, etc.)
- Social skills (e.g., eye contact, conversations, etc.)
- Adaptive (e.g., toileting, brushing teeth, purchasing, etc.)
- Play and leisure (e.g., imitating peers, playing with peers, etc.)
- Fine & gross motor skills (e.g., pincer grasp, using pencil, etc.)
- Feeding (e.g., food refusal, food selectivities, etc.)
- Aggression, tantrums, self-injurious behavior, non-compliance, and so on.
The Clinical Supervisor trains the Behavior Technicians or Registered Behavior Technicians, or RBTs, to implement the individualized treatment. The Behavior Technicians or RBTs will collect data to monitor progress. The Clinical Supervisor will regularly meet with client, family, and behavior technicians to make data-based decisions about treatment.
PARENT TRAINING
APBH values the importance of parent participation throughout treatment. Parents are an integral component of effective treatment. Our staff will be providing the tools for parents to effectively manage behaviors and teach skills.
PRIVATE CONSULTATION
APBH offers private consultation for individuals who do not qualify for ABA services through their insurance, regional center, and other funding sources.
APBH also offers services for facilities who would benefit from staff training, including but not limited to daycares, Pre-K to high schools, residential facilities, and hospitals.
